What Causes Persistent Night Sweats And Hot Flashes While On Amlodipine ?

Question: My blood pressure is within the normal range, but I keep having hot/cold flashes and night sweats. I justed started having heart palpitations especially when I walk up and down the stairs, preparing dinner, evacuating my bowels, just sitting still and lying down on either side of my body. I have been on amLodipine 5 mgs and recently increased to 10 mgs.
Should I go to urgent care or the emergency room?

Brief Answer:
It's not due to Amlodipine

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ma'am,

After going through the medical details provided by you I would like to inform you that your symptoms are quite suggestive of the postmenopausal syndrome which causes hormonal changes as well as such symptoms in the body.

However Considering Your Age, it's advisable to rule out cardiac cause first so kindly get an ECG and Echocardiography done for evaluation. If you can get the ECG done at the time of palpitations then it will be even more diagnostic.

I hope this information will be helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards
Dr. Bhanu Partap
