What Causes Persistent Pain Near The Spine After Lumbar Laminectomy?

default
Posted on Thu, 15 Jun 2017
Question: I hope so. My husband had a lumbar laminectomy W/ fusion about 9 months ago to relieve severe spinal stenosis. (he also had a hip replacement w/ gluteal tear repair 5 months after the back surgery). He now has pain on both sides of his spine near his waist which occurs after sitting a while and when he tries to play golf. Any idea where to start to figure out what's happening?

Brief Answer:
Pregabalin and tizanidine addition

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

The back / spine needs to be examined. A repeat MRI may be advised by your neurosurgeon if there is significant pain and disability developed as a result of this flare.

In addition to the NSAIDS, pregabalin and tizanidine can be added to aid the improvement. Physiotherapy after diathermy would also help as it has proven benefit.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
