What Causes Plugged Ears And Swollen Neck Glands Post A Surgery?
Question: 2 years ago I went to the doctor because of plugged ears and a lump under my chin (thought I had an infection in my glands). They found a cyst on my parotid gland which was surgically removed. I was hoping that was the cause of my plugged ears (Eustachian tubes are not functioning properly) but my ears haven't gotten better. The Dr. says the next step is tubes in my ears. I feel that does not fix the reason for the sudden ear issues at this stage in my life (never any prior ear issues). I feel like my neck glands are swollen which may be causing my Eustachian tubes to be pinched shut. I would really like to figure out what is causing this so I can try to fix it--every day is a struggle with plugged ears!
Brief Answer:
ETD is fairly common.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. Eustachian Tube Dysfunction ( ETD ) is fairly common.
2. It does not arise from the parotid cysts or by pressure from lymph nodes.
3. If medical treatment fails, get the ventilation tubes (Myringotomy and grommet insertion ) done.
4.This helps the Eustachian Tube Function to recover.
5. Upload your test results. It will help in understanding the severity of your ETD.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
