What Causes Profuse Sweating, Dizziness And Elevated Heart Rate?
After sleeping for about 4 hours I woke up still feeling slightly dizzy but my other symptoms went away. I have never experienced anything like this before and am nervous about what is causing it. I don’t do drugs and only use medication for my allergies. This is the first time I have ever considered going to the emergency room but I don’t know if I should or not.
Your symptoms seem to be related to benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to an inner ear disorder called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
It is typically noticed during sleeping, and can cause episodes of severe head spinning associated with nausea and vomiting.
The fact that the dizziness was relieved by a certain position and exacerbated by other positions of your head is another argument in favor of this disorder.
Regarding the tachycardia, it doesn't seem to be related to any cardiac disorder. It is caused by an autonomic reaction of your body to the vertigo, associated with nausea and vomiting.
There is no need to go to the ER for the moment.
If this episode is repeated, I recommend consulting with the ENT specialist for a careful physical examination, a routine blood test, labyrinthine tests and electronystagmography.
There are different maneuvers and medical therapies (like anti-histamines), to treat this condition.
Hope to have been of help!
