What Causes Rash Around Waist Area?

Question: Hi, I have a rash around my waist. I'm on vacation at the beach and it usually happens after a few days but this time is worse even though I brought two swimsuits to alternate days. I'm using lotrimin ultra.

I have gone through your query and have checked the attached image. The rash seems to be due to contact dermatitis. It is the allergic reaction to something. It could be to sea water. You would need to identify the causative agent and avoid it if feasible. In the meantime, take cetirizine tablet once daily for 4 days. You may apply some emollient like aloe vera lotion or calamine lotion for soothing effect.

Thank you. If it's an allergy to sea water why does it only show on waist line? Also, is claritine a feasible replacement for cetirizine?

Claritin (loratidine) is a much better antiallergic acompared to cetirizine

Thanks for writing back. It could be in reaction to the sweat that gets trapped in the fabric embracing the waist. It could also be that the sea water getting absorbed by your dress, was in more contact with the affected area. It is hard for me to comment without careful observation. Claritin (loratidine) is a much better antiallergic compared to cetirizine and you can take it safely.
