What Causes Rashes On The Hands While Suffering From Fever?

Question: HI, my 13 yr old son had a fever for a couple of days which has cleared up. After the fever he broke out in a read on his hands and forearms. The only thing different I gave him was orange juice with XXXXXXX and theraflu with chamomile & green tea. He is also allergic to cut grass and was practicing in the grass the day before the fever.
Brief Answer:
Could be due to a viral infection.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Most often such fevers have a viral cause but can have an allergic component associated along. Giving Montek LC Kid (monteleukast + levocetirizine) [prescription medicine] should provide in such cases, especially when your child has allergy to certain things like grass or possibly pollens as well. I have checked the attached image. It is hard to discern whether the rashes are due to viral or allergic cause but it is likely to be the latter.
I would insist you not to worry. Feel free to write back in case of further queries.

How long should a viral or allergic rush last? It started about 36 hour ago & it doesn't look like it's clerking in up. Should he keep using the benedryl & hydrocortisone? They are both over the counter.
Brief Answer:
Should take 3-5 days to resolve.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. The rashes are likely to last between 3-5 days. Benadryl contains an antiallergic as does Montek LC Kid. Give any one of them for 3-5 days (from onset). Do not use hydrocortisone.
