What Causes Rashes On The Right Bicep?

default
Posted on Sat, 18 Feb 2017
Question: Hey doctor,

The last couple of days under my right bicep i've had this weird feeling of it being sensitive when I touch it like that of a rash of sunburn but there is no signs of anything at all on my arm the skin just looks normal. It kind of feels like it's on the inside of my arm and not the actual skin. The only thing that I've been doing differently lately is working out at the gym and I did work on arms on Sunday but it is now Wednesday so I'm not sure if that I related, what do you think it could be?

Kind Regards,
Daniel

Brief Answer:
Can be due to nerve compression, muscle spasm or shingles

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
According to your complaints there are few possibilities : it can be either due to compression of some nerve in the biceps region while gyming or due to some muscle spasm.
Sometimes this kind of sensation can be the presenting symptom of shingles followed by appearance of rash 3-5 days later.
You can keep the area under observation to see whether any rash develops.

Brief Answer:
More likely related to nerve & muscle, shingles less likely

Detailed Answer:
More likely related to nerve compression or muscle sprain although shingles can occur even after vaccination as vaccine is not 100 percent effective.
In your case chances of shingles are less likely.
You can continue with your gyming.

Is there any treatment or is it just waiting to see if it heals up or gets worse with time?
