What Causes Rectal Pain Along With Discomfort Sciatic Nerve?

sciatica and referred pains
Detailed Answer:
Hi!
Welcome to health care magic!
I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.
The pain, as you described exactly resembles how sciatica normally presents with, however there are multiple causes of compression on sciatic nerve, varying from lumbar spine herniation, disc slips to other rare ones. You seem to be suffering from a rarer form called piriformis syndrome but it is premature to confirm that. Don't get puzzled by the heavy names. It just means that sciatic nerve runs down at the proximity of this muscle within the group of muscles around hip, and in cases of spasm or inflammation of this muscle if gets to present with pressure symptoms and pain etc. Final verdict can be made by a neurosurgeon after reviewing Xrays or CT/MRI of lumbar spine.
Management starts from pain killers. Normally in a vast majority it spontaneously resolves in 6-8 weeks.
Medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen will help with the pain. Using gaba pentins or carbamezapine may also help with nerve pains. Role of muscle relaxants like orphenidrine or tizanidine is less in sciatica but in piriformis syndrome it can be more helpful. In non responding cases or in cases of proven disc slips or herniations surgical options are sought as last resorts.
Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.

contrasting pains and their relationship
Detailed Answer:
Hi! The nervy pain you mentioned which varies with sitting and standing is likely due to sciatica.
The colo-rectal pain you explained can be due to constipation or strain secondary to pain meds. If constipation isn't being experienced then other causes, involvement of lumbar plexus, the network of nerves controlling bladder and rectal movements can be a cause. But at this moment you need to pursue with the management plan as I told you relating to sciatica. Meanwhile if colo-rectal pain aggravates or progresses to improper bowel movement then do discus with your neurologist. Meanwhile using anti spasmodic drugs like drotaverine may help you with that.
