What Causes Rectal Pain While Moving?
Question: I'm having pain in my rectal area, only when moving. No pain when I sit, lay or just stand, just walking. The pain also tends to radiate on the inside of my thigh up by the groin. I do have ulcerative proctitis but also play a lot of softball but don't recall straining a muscle. Doesn't hurt to move my bowels.
I have also had soft stool with mucus for several days. Could this be a flare up?

Brief Answer:
yes, it could be a flare
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It would be a good idea for you to see your gastroenterologist. The pain and mucus in the stool makes it likely that you are having an ulcerative flare up.
They may want to get you on a treatment to relieve the pain.
Rectal pain can be referred in to the groin area.
It could be something else, but the mucus makes me concerned that you are having a flare and need medications.
You could try some warm soaks in a tub and some ibuprofen but it is best to see your doctor as soon as possible

Is it unusual that I feel absolutely fine while sitting and sleeping? Why am I symptomatic only while moving? As soon as I sit or stop, I'm fine.
Pain seems more in the backside crease of the upper leg/butt region. I press the muscles and stretch, but nothing hurts.
I'm feeling pressure and go to the bathroom 5 to 6X per day with no or very little movement. Frustrating.

Brief Answer:
cannot really explain that

Hello,
I do not have an exact answer for that question. I agree it is odd that you are not having more frequent symptoms. The only thing I can think is that there is something about whatever is going on in the colon that is being irritated with movement and thus causing pain.
The mucus and feeling like you need to have a bowel movement frequently really make it sound like something is going on in the colon.
Please let me know if you have further questions
