What Causes Recurring Numbness Of Toes And Dizziness?

Posted on Fri, 13 Mar 2015
Question: I had a missed shot of meth around 6 days ago. I immediately went with a hot compress for the first day and then ice pack and neosporon. I stopped shooting afterwards but I kept taking orally. A soft mushy spot came towards the left of my arm and it would get worse when I would dose (1x a day in am) a few nights after missed shot I'm not sure if it was an anxiety attack or mild heart attack. A few more days down the road same mushy spot. Take my morning dose and the same chest pain shoulder pain back of arm pain came and then out of nowhere the dizziness hit along with the finger and toes going numb worse than before. I knew that enough was enough went to er. And told them what happened they barely even checked the miss and spot beside it. They said I was having a panic attack. I've lived with general anxiety disorder since I was a child and have never had anything like that. So they send me home and my arm, kidneys, and armpit lymph nodes are still hurting plus the chills. The doctor said if nothing has happened in a week then nothing will. But my question is why am I still having heart fluttering and all the other pains. I Feel like they blew me off after I told them about the meth and the panic attacks. So should I just take the doctors word and not worry about it, or go get a second opinion?

Brief Answer:
Anxiety related, ECG will rule out cardiac cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

This is most likely anxiety related...not just because of meth but the symptoms are also suggestive of this. The symptoms of numbness of toes and dizziness which comes on and off is more pointing towards anxiety.

It is not MI (heart attack) - as, such repetitive MI would have been very grave for the body and you would not be feeling okay any time even after it..plus, you will also have a heaviness in chest and severe chest pain radiating to left arm during the real MI attack.

More so, there is no such thing like arm pit lymph node and kidney pain in MI.
However, if you are still worried, then get an ECG. It will clear all doubts regarding heart.

Try doing deep slow breathing during such episodes- it will help you a lot.
You are still having these fluttering because of disturbed neurochemicals due to use of meth...this will however wean down with time. You can also see a psychiatrist for treatment if this persist.

Hope the reply is useful.

I understand that I didnt have a heart attack. And i am not currenty having a heart attack. It was meth induced anxiety. I am more concerned with the missed shot of meth from almost 7 days ago that has left a soft mushy spot inches away from the injection site. The injection site has been down due to hot compress then cold compress. the doctor would not pay attention to. I am worried about pain in arm pits and kidney due to possible infection. I know how dangerous the actual chemical and the adulterants are to tissue. So my question is would the general blood work that was done cover infection? Or how could he tell that it was okay before the results were even back? Its a 2x3 square of soft mushy skin to the left of my elbow. So what could be in there?

Brief Answer:
get urine routine xamination & renal function test

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

To rule out kidney problem- urine routine examination, culture and renal function tests are sufficient.

If there is associated swelling and redness in armpit lymphnodes- then it is most likely infection. And antibiotics will help. This can be shown by raised lymphocytes in blood count test. The complete blood count is a simple basic test and it is good enough to show presence of infection in body.

The mushy spot inches away from injection site can be due to the effect of meth while taking it....sometimes there is a tissue damage which can lead to this. However, it can be related to some neuronal injury -(in that case there are variation in percieving temeperature and or numbness).

Wish you good health.
