What Causes Recurring Pain In Left Hip?

default
Posted on Fri, 31 Jul 2015
Question: Have had pain off and on deep in left hip for many years. Since recovering from planter faccitis a year ago (yes, physical therapy was completed), I've noticed a difference in my gait. Laying on that side at night makes pain worse. Not constant pain during the day but pain seems to not go totally away. Just stays right below the surface until I start to realize it's still there. Pain most noticeable down my leg, again not all the time, but I am noticing it is wearing on me. I'm even now questioning if my knee is creating this problem.

Brief Answer:
MRI of the affected hip joint in consult with your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

MRI of the hip joint is the ideal investigation in this regard and can be advised to detect any soft tissue abnormalities associated with it. A physical exam and history should be done first to ascertain any associated knee abnormality, osteoporosis and investigations can then be advised. Avoid laying or putting pressure on the right side where its painful. Physiotherapy , Hot fomentation, NSAIDs such as Etoricoxib and muscle relaxants can be advised to look for improvement in consultation with your orthopedic doctor.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
