What Causes Red Bloodshot Eyes, Bad Headache And Sinus Infection While On Antibiotics?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Aug 2016
Question: I have red bloodshot eyes, more than I have ever had before, with headache (front of head-above eyes), sinus infection (left side of nose green-milky discharge last four days/ right side is fine). I thought it was only nasal allergies. Right eye had the red spot on it (last thursday) and I treated it with eye drops and it is starting to fade away so I did not worry about it. Now the left eye is red just like the right eye started out. My eyes do not appear to itch or hurt and the eye drops do not sting when added. Nasal discharge goes away with the use of Flonase 50mg.. I am on prescription doses of: atorvistatin 40 mg., Benazepril 20 mg., Amlodipine Besylate 10 mg., and have not been able to smell or taste for 14 years except on a few occasions. Recently being treated for a kidney stone, 5.5 mm diameter, but without any pain for two weeks. have not taken pain meds or Flowmax for three weeks. Tired of headache and nasal problems.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis is more.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis is more.
And your drug list does not include medicines for them.
So better to follow these steps for better symptomatic relief.
1. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep your self hydrated.
2. Do steam inhalation 4-5 times a day.
3. Take combination of antihistamine (levocetrizine or fexofenadine) and anti allergic (montelukast).
4. Start steroidal eye drops for red eyes.
5. Start intranasal spray containing steroids (fluticasone).
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
