What Causes Red Sore Throat When Diagnosed With Thrush?

XXXXXXX
Continue symptomatic treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Let me address your question one by one:
1. Coxsackie virus infections can recur as there are many serotypes of the virus. They are amongst the most common and easily transmitted infections in children. Most infections are self limiting and go unnoticed. So, no need to worry.
2. Since your daughter is recovering from Lyme disease. She can have post infectious illness associated with malaise and body ache. It just needs symptomatic treatment in the form of pain killers and rest with good nutrition.
3. Long course of antibiotics with illness of Lyme disease can suppress body defence against fungal infections. This seems to be the reason for her thrush. Just continue nystatin oral medication drops for relief with good oral hygiene. It will definitely improve.
4. In case she is battling viral infection, there is no need for any further tests. Just give her acetaminophen for fever spikes along with antihistamine such as Chlorpheniramine or fexofenadine for sore throat. Advise her 3-4 warm saline gargle daily along with good healthy nutrition and plenty of fluids.
Since the viral infections are commonly self limiting, she will improve within a week.
In case she develops any other symptoms or doesn't improve in next 3-4 days, then do go for a repeat clinical examination by Paediatrician for management.
Hopefully this will help you. I would be glad to help you in any further questions.
Take care
