What Causes Red Stool While On Wellbutrin XL?

Question: I take several medications, including Wellbutrin XL. I've noticed what appears to be a small pill in my stool a couple of times this week. One had a reddish coating, the other, yellowish.

Today, I fished that latter out, and a "shell" slipped off. What remained was a hard, white, circular substance. What could it be?

I appreciate your concern

Based on the history you gave, its likely to be the undigested part of the medication which isn't properly dissolved. Its not normal though. There are 2 steps which can be taken.

1) Get a stool routine exam (plus for ova and parasites) done to rule out other causes leading to such material in the stool
2) Inform your pharmacist regarding this issue to determine proper medication status and to go through the check list once more , just to be sure.
