default
Posted on Mon, 17 Nov 2014
Question: Under my right eye is swollen, it itches and hurts. The last time it happened i went to see an optician and he prescribed some medication but i cant remember what it was but am positive it had chloramphinicol eyes drop and cream; though i cant say if that was all.
I started treatment with those two and added vitamin E &C with analgesic for the pain but the swell has not reduced nor the itching and pain.

Brief Answer:
allergic manifestation of eye.

Detailed Answer:
If swelling and itching are main symptoms, it is attributed towards allergic manifestation. The cause of allergy should be tried to isolate. It can be food or drink, cosmetic, pet in house, pollen in air. If such thing is short listed then it should be avoided. If you have no idea regarding those allergens, you can opt for allergy tests.

In my option, no antibiotic like chloromycitin is required. It is not helpful in allergies.

I would treat you with levocetrizine 5mg daily. Antiallergy eye drops can be applied. I am not aware of the local brands available in your country. You can discuss about it with your local doctor/pharmacist. It should improve slowly. If does not improve you can have your eye examined by ophthalmologist.
