What Causes Redness On Forehead Post Intake Of Risperidone?

Question: My father, 80's was sitting for 45 minutes on a verandah, under a roof awning in early February. It was overcast, no direct sun. Temperature about 22c. That evening it was noticed that he had redness on his forehead. Was this caused by the UV rays or his medication?
Brief Answer:
Photosensitivity to risperidone
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have read your question and I have understood your concern.
It was most likely due to photosenstivity reaction to risperidone from UV exposure. He may use a mild topical steroid cream e.g Cortisone cream to help faster resolution of erythema and desquamation.
In addition he may use a broad spectrum sunscreen (spf 50 or more) regularly throughout the day, every 2-3 hours, to prevent this from happening again.
