Question: Can mild-moderate restrictive lung disease be caused by past rib trauma I had motorcycle accident 2009 broke third rib and puncture lung and I also have table calcified mediastinal and hilar adenopathy dating back to 2009. This finding along with calcified granuloma in the right upper lobe, suggest etiology from prior granulomatous disease exposure. but I been told I have mild-moderate restrictive lung disease base on my PFT test
Brief Answer:
Get done fresh HRCT thorax.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the report you have attached.
Restrictive lung defect is commonly seen with interstitial lung disease(ILD), smoker patient, old fibrotic lesions.
So restriction on PFT is likely due to old granulomatous disease but better to get done fresh HRCT thorax to rule out ILD.
Also let me know if you are smoker.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
