What Causes Right-sided Headaches, Eye Pain And Swollen Soreness On Palate?

Question: in my ealier years, I'm 59, I never had headaches, in the last couple of years, I have started having right sided headaches, almost every day with eye pain sometimes, back of right ear. Two years ago I had an MRI/MRA that were normal. Right now the roof of my mouth on the right side is sore too and a little swollen. I have trigeminal neuralgia very intermittently als. The headaches are sometime only at night and sometimes wake me up. Then they may go away for a a week or so and then right back. I have one for the last 6 days and go to the chiropractor off an on too. My PCP perscribed amitriptyline, and I havent started it yet, I don't want to be on drugs, I'm already on wellbutrin and pristiq for depression. I want to try essential oils which is in the works,on order. Any thoughts?

Hi,

Thanks for posting to HCM.

I read your query and understand you concern.

As I read your older questions, I understood that the problem is being bothering you for a while.
I read about your previous disease.
Unfortunately cranial muscle and nervous system is fragile.
As you have done brain MRI, you should be calm as there is nothing serious going on.

Your headache characteristics lead to migraine attacks and these lasting headaches seems tensive headache.
Your doctor prescribed one of the best medications to treat headaches.
Amytriptiline should be started.
Start with low dose (12.5 and it can be increased till 50 mg)
You will be fine after three to four weeks after starting treatment.
You can dominate migraine attacks by using ibuprofen.
Anyway I don't see reason to worry too much.

Those are symptoms of a non risky disease and you will avoid headache after some weeks of treatment.

Hope I have been of help
Feel free to ask further questions or clarifications
Wish you good health and fast recovery
