What Causes Right Upper Quadrant Pain With Nausea?
Question: I have had RUQ pain for over a month now with nausea. I have had a ct, scope, ultrasound (all normal) and hida scan. My hida scan came back with 74% function. Is it possible my gallbladder is overactive?
Brief Answer:
no its not
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
A gall bladder ejection fraction more than 35% is normal. So your gall bladder is very much normal and not overactive.
Other possibilities for the cause of your pain can be pancreatitis or gastritis (despite normal scopy).
So i would suggest that you try taking a ppi like pantaprazole or omeprazole for 2-3 days on empty stomach. If pain improves, then its gastritis only and so you continue the ppi for a few weeks.
Else get your serum lipase levels done to look for pancreatitis.
Hope i have been helpful.
