Does Low Thyroid Hormone Levels Affect Ejection Fraction?
I am an RN still getting q 6-month echocardiagrams post chemotherapy with Adriamycin and Herceptin (completed these in 1/2008). My echo has always shown ejection fractions of 65-70% until the past one, which revealed a 55%, which may have been in conjunction with not receiving enough Thyroid medication-a test revealed that I was low Can a low thyroid hormone adversely affect the ejection fraction?
Yes, it can. Low thyroid hormone in blood or its elevation affect the heart as well as many other organs. These hormones must be in an efficient manner all through the way.
