Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Ringing in ears/tinnituscan be because of many reasons but mostly is due to auditory pathway changes.
Diabetes, hypertension, drugs and trauma (physical or auditory) are common causes.
Please upload few of your reports related to blood and an audiometry if you have got these done so that I can explain things in a better way.
Also please mention if you have any other ear related complaint.
Feel free to ask another query.
Regards

If you don't have any previous auditory history, there are more chances that the systemic causes like diabetes and hypertension are related to tinnitus.
Systemic diseases often lead to damage to auditory nerve and inner ear and two most common presentations of this are hearing loss and tinnitus. The reason is damage to the neural elements and hair cells which are related to the auditory function. Similar changes can be age related/degenerative.
So in your case, long standing systemic diseases must have added to the age related changes and the resultant complaints.
Regular control of blood sugar and blood pressure helps in delaying such changes.
Please discuss with an ENT the symptoms and he/she can start with medical treatment but it may or may not be effective for tinnitus. Use of a hearing aid also helps.
