Brief Answer:
Needs work up and evaluation for the cause. Likely dry mouth

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Salty and metallic tastes at old age are very common and mostly attributed to dry mouths or some side effects of medications people use. Treatment is supportive mostly and avoiding the likely cause of that. SMoking may cause it. Recent cold, post nasal dripping can also cause it.

I would like you to get evaluated by an oral hygienist for local causes first followed by a neurologist for any neurological cause of dysgeusia and treat it accordingly. Till then measures for dry mouth, frequent drinking of fluids, use of artificial saliva and maintaining good oral hygiene will help.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
