What Causes Seeing Of Flashes Of Light In Vision?
Question: Yes. I've had a very bad cold the past few days and my eyes have gooey stuff coming out of them. I notice when I walk into a dark room, flashes of light are above my left eye. Do I need to get this checked out? I've had massive congestion.
Brief Answer:
May be nasolacrimal duct is affected.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Since this has happened after bad cold , it is likely that nasolacrimal duct is blocked. Nasolacrimal duct is tubular connection between eyes and nose which carries excess secretion from eyes to nose, avoiding eyes getting watery every time.
Steam inhalation and oral antihistaminics can help to relieve some congestion.Gentle massage at junction of eye and nose can be tried to help the duct to open up.
Try this for 5-7 days.If symptoms continue or worsen , then get it checked.
Wash eyes with warm water to avoid secretions getting stagnated there.
Hope this helps. Please ask if there are doubts.
Regards.
