What Causes Seizing Pain In Upper Right Quadrant Under Lung?

Question: seizing pain in upper right quadrant under lung, not associated with lung or heart discomfort lasting seconds but very severe , as severe as kidney stones but extremely brief in duration. had two episodes a few hours after breakfast and one about three o'clock. seems to be followed by burping and mild dispepsia-not sure if there is a connection or not. No shortness of breath or any other symtems after it is over. at first described as shooting pain on second thought perhaps more like spasm or seizure in that area. does not radiate.
Brief Answer:
Gallstones are most probable reason.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Such pain associated with foods intake seems to be caused by gallstones. The pain may radiate to the back (but not necessarily). Nausea, burping are quite characteristic for it. Bitter taste can appear.
Gallstones pain is usually strong. Fatty foods or alcohol can trigger it.
I suggest you to have abdominal ultrasound done at first. Blood work and urine analysis should be checked as well.
In a meanwhile please avoid fatty foods, spicy foods, fried foods and alcohol.
Hot bath can help with the pain.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

I had a Cholecystectomy.
Brief Answer:
Stone in bile duct can give similar symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Than a stone in bile ducts can be present. Removing gallbladder you only get rid of stones. But you do not make anything with a tendency to stones creation.
Ultrasound should be done. Liver tests (like AST, ALT, GGTP, AP) are also necessary.
Regards.
