Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Be Concerned As I Am Having Spasmodic Pain Under My Left Shoulder Blade?
I have been having spasmodic pain under my left shoulder blade for several days now--non-muscular. I had a lap-cholecystectomy many years ago. It gets slightly better if I lean forward. No increase on movement or with inspiration, no coughing. Any cause for concern?
As pain around the shoulder blade is muscular. Due to inflammation of the insertion of the Trapezius muscle there will be pain. For which we call it Trapezitis. Along with this there will be a inter-scapular muscle spasm. This happens due to poor posture.
Firstly need correction of the posture, next, we need to have hot water fermentation, gentle kneading massage, myofascial release, IASTM, neck static exercise, shoulder stabilization exercises, inter-scapular muscle strengthening exercises, breathing exercises.
All of this will help reduce pain and spasm.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
