What Causes Seizure Like Activity In A Child?

Question: My 5 year old nephew started having left hand rapid movements about 3 months ago, this has since stopped. about 3 weeks ago, we started noticing that when he is watching television, he is looking at the screen straight ahead, then all of sudden his eyes will rotate up and to the right, then will focus straight ahead again. we are filming these episodes, some days are worse than others. trying to get him in with the Neurology Dept at XXXXXXX University Medical Center. There is one cousin, in the family that has suffered from from seizures, otherwise all maternal and fraternal is negative. child has social behavior problems, however, very loving and kind. are we on the right track here?

Appears to be Seizures/EEG.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist, here to answer your query.
The episodes which you have described appear to be seizures indeed. I suggest that a Video EEG and MRI of Brain should be done.EEG can help to see if any abnormal electric discharges are present.MRI can help to let know about structural lesions, if any.
Hope that helps. If you have any further questions, I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
Regards
