What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain And Yellow Discolouration In Stool After Drinking Wine?

Question: My daughter has had severe lower abdominal pain and yellow stool's after drinking wine. She can drink other alcohol with no problem and only has a drink socially maybe once a week. She is 32 and is healthy and not overweight at all. In between times her stools are normal with no pain. She has had three children and her only other issue was gallbladder pain while she was pregnant, but that was relieved by just going on and no fat diet. Once she had her children she didn't have any gallbladder problems . She did start on Celexa a couple months ago and said this is been happening often on for the last couple months?

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM
Thank you for the query
I understand your concern
Well it's really difficult to say why she develops abdominal pain and loose stools only after wine and not with other alcohols.
May be some content of wine she is allergic to and that is what causes and kind of allergic reaction in intestine and therefore the pain and diarrhoea.
The only answer to this is probably stop drinking wine.
Can try different wine brands and see if she tolerates any one of them.
Good that her gall bladder problem has got resolved.
Wish her a speedy recovery.
Happy to help.
Best wishes.
