What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain Post A Pap Smear Test?

They must have cauterized something that was bleeding on the cervix
Detailed Answer:
I am so terribly sorry to hear this and believe that your daughter definitely deserved a better explanation of what was being done to her. So I will try to help you explain what might have happened:
1. Your daughter is 41 years old
2. She went to see a GYN and mentioned that she did not have regular periods and also had pelvic pain near the ovaries
3. They performed a pap smear
4. The GYN then introduced something that was long and did some sort of burning but did not explain what was done.
Well, the best guess is that there was something bleeding from the surface of the cervix and, after obtaining the pap smear, she used either cautery or freezing to stop whatever was bleeding. Sometimes you can make the cervix bleed during a pap smear. This would explain what she is describing pretty well but I still think that she deserves an explanation of what happened. She should:
1. Call the clinic and ask to speak to the doctor or the doctor's nurse
2. Get an explanation of what was done
3. If they will not cooperate, then ask to speak to the clinic manager and explain what happened and what was NOT explained
4. If you still are getting a roadblock, call the insurance company and ask if they can help provide any assistance as she should not have to pay for a visit where you did not get good service.
