What Causes Severe Back Pain And Night Sweats?
Question: I have been having severe back pain x 3 weeks with swelling on right side. For the past week two new symptoms have presented: severe night sweats and weight loss. I was put on pain killers which does nothing for the pain. An MRI was done (without contrast), and I was assured there is no bone infection. I was also assured it is not Osteoarthritis. The only thing helping my back pain for the last four days is Amoxicillan (prescribed for a tooth that was hurting), so I've stopped the pain meds. I have a very high tolerance to pain. Right now I am a six but I can deal with that. I've never been this sick in my lifetime. The only thing that I did was have some major dental work on March 15th and the back pain presented 9 days later on March 23rd and continuing, along with the two new recent symptoms. Some blood work was also run just this week and my C-Reactive protein is 5.3 and flagged as high (I was told by my doctor nothing to worry), and my alkaline phosphates 138 also flagged as high (again told by my doctor nothing to worry about). Thank you so much for your advice. I just want to get better.
Brief Answer:
Can be due to infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Severe night sweats and weight loss that you are having can be related to weakness and can be due to an infection in the tooth. After an infection weakness can happen and can cause a raised C reactive protein.
The back pain can also be related to infection. Mild pain killer and hot compress will help.
I hope this answers your query.
