What Causes Severe Body Pain While On Gabapentin?

Question: I began a six day course of prednisone yesterday morning, 20 mg. for pain associated with severeTMJ. also 100 mg of Gabapentin last night. By end of day yesterday my body ached all over, I didn't sleep well last night, woke up kind of agitated twice, and this morning my resting pulse is 110. I have very normal health, all has been checked out recently. could this possibly be reaction to new meds?

Thanks for writing to Health Care Magic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.

These seem to be side effects if gabapentin rather than prednisolon ,pulse rate of 110 can be caused by pain irritation ir anxiety, usually a patient doesn feel problems with gabapentin in the start of treatment but with time these problems settle as the body adjusts to the new drug.

I would suggest you to either discuss it with yiur doctor if that is hard to do then you can make it half a tablet a day and then in a week you can make it full tablet this way there wont be many symptoms which you are facing.

Resting heart rate of hundred and ten is not a problem if stays for small duration but if it stays for days then it needs to be looked at.

I would suggest you not to panic and follow my suggestions.

Thanks for your guidance. Additionally, my blood pressure was 170/120 and 160/100. It has calmed down now, I did not take the morning dose of prednisone. I can cut back on the gabapentin as well. I will call my doc tomorrow.

Hello thanks for writing back you mentioned a very significant thing in here, steroids can raise BP in start you just have to monitor it home. Cut down you salt intake to three quarters of a tea spoon a day.

You can continue steroids you can cut doen gaba though ..dont cut down steroids before you doctor asks you to. You can take tylenol for pain if you need.
