What Causes Severe Chest Pain?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Sep 2017
Question: I have had this strange pain that feels like it is between my heart and lung for about six months or more now. The pain is worse some days than others but is always there. It feels like a sore muscle, but its underneath my muscle tissue. I do smoke marijuana daily. Would it be wise to get a lung function test?

Brief Answer:
Better to get done chest x ray, ecg and 2d echo first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Since you are smoker, better to first get done chest x ray, ecg and 2d echo.
Lung function test will only detect if there is bronchitis or not.
Chest x ray will tell you if there is tumor or mass because pain is more commonly seen with tumor than bronchitis.
Ecg and 2d echo are needed for heart diseases as these can also cause similar kind of chest pain.
So instead of lung function test, you should get done chest x ray, ecg and 2d echo.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
