What Causes Severe Cold And Cough While On Enalapril, Atenolol And Losartan?

Question: Doctor I was taking Enalpril 5mg, Atenol 50mg and Losartan 50mg. Now due to severe cold and cough (for last 8 days) the new Doctor asked me to take:Losar 50 (night), Losar-H 50 (morning), Atenol -half at 2pm, Hatric-3 Cold (morning-night) and Ceftum 500 (Morning and night). I have been asked to skip Enam-5 and just wanted to know if that is OK.

I am Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.
I have gone through your query.Thanks for using HCM.
Actually Enalapril has got side effect of dry irritating and persistent cough.So your dcotor might have considered it and asked you to stop .To compensate for it he has stepped up losar and losar H.
But if it is due to side effect there is no need for antibiotics.However your doctor is right person to decide.
If he is sure that it was not side effect and was infection ,he will restart.
Both was nothing to worry.

Firstly Thanks Doctor. Yes i have been coughing for long time but i never bothered. So stopping Enalpril and starting losar H seems fine. So Atenol also will be stopped as my local Doctor said that Atenol cannot be stooped immediately. Yes you are right that my Doctor might have thought and decided. I already started the Antibiotic so need to complete the dose i think. I also smoke one cigarette in the evening due to stress. Once again thanks Doctor.

I agree with your doctor's decision.But you must stop smoking totally.Your stress should be managed by yoga and meditation.I am sure you will be fine and your dose requirement of BP medicine may drop if you practice yoga regularly.
