What Causes Severe Cough After Exposure To Mold Spores?
I added more info did you get it? I will see an md and ask for xray and exam. I intend to gather any possible viable sample form under the sinks before I leave here
X-ray should be helpful, if any abnormalities is found.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Mold exposure over time could have caused severe damage to the lungs. X-ray will be helpful.
2. Along with smoking, even though little and exposure to pollution and seasonal variation can cause deep coughing secondary to bronchospasm and lung inflammation. It is difficult to pinpoint the cause.
3. If you have sputum production, you can try mucolytics like carbocisteine along with expectorants like guaifenesin. Go for any syrup with mucolytic and expectorant.
If there is no sputum, you can try salt water gargling along with cough suppressants like Linctus codeine sulphate.
As there is no fever, no current infection can be thought of.
4. X-ray would show any lung involvement, which could be present. Do get the examination and test from the MD, you plan to see.
Do let me know:
1. If there is any difficulty in breathing.
2. Any cold, sinusitis
3. Any sore throat or pharyngitis.
Avoid coughing too much and look into treatment aspect. You can take prescription from your doctor.
Try wearing a nasal mask for time being, to avoid further damage.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
