What Causes Severe Depression During Pregnancy?
Question: Is depression normal with pregnancy? This is my 9th pregnancy and I have a 4 year old other than that I lost all the others in between 3 and 4.5 months. In the last 3 weeks I have been feeling down and depressed. I have one very bad day when I couldn't control it and I cried for over 4 hrs. I was inconsolable my husband tried everything.
I was on Prozac 4 mg a day and i had a second pill for when the prozac was not working. When I found out I was pregnant I quit it cold turkey. Now I'm 4 months and 6 days into this pregnancy and this is how I feel. I talked to my OB and he said just got talk to someone that it is normal. But to me this feeling is not normal. I don't feel normal. I even told him I tried to hang my self in high school and got cought but I also cut ad well. That was close to 15 years ago now. And I have not felt like that down until now I will admit that I found myself cutting for the first time in 15 years last week in the shower.
So my question is, are these just hormones or is it my depression getting worse? Second question should I go back on meds well I am pregnant?
