What Causes Severe Gastric Problem, Poor Appetite And Weakness With Bilirubin Level Of 1.9?
Brief Answer:
Liver function partially compromised.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Jaundice is basically a symptom and a clinical finding characterized by yellowing of skin, eyes and urine. It is caused due to raised bilirubin level. In your case the bilirubin level is slightly raised. This indicates that your liver is not functioning smoothly. Your loss of appetite and weakness are likely to be related.
It is hard to comment on the cause without a proper clinical evaluation. If you are an alcoholic I would insist you to refrain from alcohol intake.

Detailed Answer:
If your SGOT and SGPT are normal you need not worry. If you have yellowish discoloration of your skin, it is jaundice, else it is not. You need not bother about the bilirubin level. In any case you just need to give your liver some rest. Eat light for about a month and you should be fine.
XXXXXXX syndrome is a mild genetic liver disorder in which the body cannot properly process bilirubin, a yellowish waste product that is formed when old or worn out red blood cells are broken down (hemolysis). It normally has no serious consequences. You need not bother about such technicalities.
Your acidity issues are probably independent of Gilbert's syndrome and so is the weakness and loss of appetite. Rather your problem seems to be due to gastritis or gastroesophageal reflux. Our gastrointestinal tract has a forward propulsive movement (peristalsis) that moves the food material forward as it is digested, absorbed and finally expelled as feces. If somehow this movement gets hampered, food along with the digestive juices would stagnate, stomach acid will reflux into the food pipe and on the other hand the bowel habits would not be proper. Degradation of undigested food in the intestines by the intestinal bacteria would lead to the excess gas formation.
In order to relieve yourself, you need to do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid alcohol intake (if it a part of your habit).
* Take omeprazole once daily before breakfast.
* Take plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna. I would insist you to increase your dietary fibre intake.
* Regular morning walk and exercise to keep the bowel movements proper.
* If I had a patient like you I would perhaps have suggested Prodep 20 mg tablet once daily for at least 2 months (it may take time for the action to set in).
* Take curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.
Hope that helps.
Let me know if I could help further.
