Question: Dear Sir,
My 17 years old daughter is suffering from 24 hrs severe headache on left side since past 5 years or so. The situation is getting deteriorated day by day. Her main symptoms are-
Extreme weakness in left hand, leg
Some time left eye droops
Change of color of left hand and leg to blackish
During this time vision becomes blurred and become total black once
Slurred speech
She experienced the following symptoms only once-
Left side of face drooped
Slurred speech with tongue also drooping left side
Extremely severe headache along with tingling in left side
Sudden weakness in left arm and left leg
On the advise of different doctors she had undergone several tests and all results were normal.
The doctors so far attended her so far are CLUELESS.
She had gone MRA (without XXXXXXX since she is having allergy to dye) which was normal now the doctor is asking for DSA.
One more thing is very important to be mentioned here is that she has developed allergies with medicines earlier she was not allergic
All test including MRI, MRA, MRV, EEG and lot of Blood test all are normal no findings. Recently her thyroid is very little less
Please help
With best regards,

Brief Answer:
Need to exclude vasculitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your daughter's symptoms and agree that it is unfortunate that a clear cut diagnosis has not been made yet. This is delaying any definite treatment.

The symptoms are suggestive of lack of blood flow to brain. In view of young age, we need to exclude a diagnosis of vasculitis. In this condition, the blood vessel gets inflamed, resulting in decrease of blood flow to a part of brain, and sometimes other organs in the body too get affected.

I agree with DSA, as this would show any narrowing/vasculitis in brain blood vessels.

Among blood tests, ANA (anti nuclear antibody) and XXXXXXX (c and p ANCA), which are markers for vasculitis in blood should be tested (if not already done).

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
