What Causes Severe Headache?
Question: Hi I am 42 years old have had severe headache for 3 weeks with raised ESR . MRI normal though. I am female . Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Am in agony!
Brief Answer:
Most likely a migraine.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms, past medical history and current medications.
The most likely cause if your headaches could be migraine.
Since you have very frequent headaches despite topamac and other drugs, Botox injections are a good option for you.
For relief from headaches, you can take rizatriptan tablets.
Elevated ESR could be a non specific marker of inflammation. In people aged 50 or more, we should consider temporal arteritis (inflammation of temporal arteries) in this situation, but not in your case.
I hope it helps.
Best wishes,
