What Causes Severe Headaches, Dizziness And Tingling Sensation In The Scalp?
Question: Sir, i was infected with genital herpes in january 2016. Since then i am having severe headaches, dizziness and tingling all over scalp.this happens daily and is persistent. Doctor prescribed me 15 days of ceftum for the blisters on the glans. The blisters go away but come back immediately after treatment is stoped. The initial outbreak was severe but later once are quite mild.
I am not worried about the blisters on penis but i am very worried about the headache n tingling.doctor prescribed me met neurobion and stugeron forte. I have been taking these for 2 months but there seems to be no use.
I also went to neurologist, did an MRI scan. The MRI shows everthing to be normal. I thought it is meningitis but it isnt. The neurologist precribed me pregabalin 75 but even this doesnt seem to work...its been 10 months now and still there is no improvement...i did an hiv test that was negative. I cannot take this anymore. My life is like a living hell.please help

The scalp and forehead are affected. the scalp feels ELECTRIC. when i move my neck or start walking or moving i feel like an electric zap or a jolt. there is no such sensation on face( its only on scalp and forehead). the headache usually starts after sunset. sometimes it can be durind day also. it seems like a headache due to muscles of scalp contracting. i tried painkillers like brufen and zerodol but they dont work at all. when i run my fingers on scalp, that portion becomes numb and i feel a burning sensation for some seconds. the neck also feels stiff and when i move my neck i hear an odd crackling sound. i thought pregabalin 75 and cyclobenzaprine would work but it did not. doctor had prescribed ceftum for the herpes. do u think i should start a long term acyclovir therapy? because it seems to be the drug of choice for herpes.

Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
Based on the description of the pain, it is obvious for it to be a peripheral neural damage. Such nerve damage can be secondary to herpes Zoster. Yes, Long term acyclovir can help here.
Also, a course of steroid is necessary along with Pregabalin to help the nerve recover.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.

thank you sir....the urologist diagnosed it as HSV 2 as i only get lesions on glans of penis and nowhere else. so it is not herpes zoster. can hsv 2 cause such neural damage?if so i hope it can be cured. i forgot to tell i get considerable relief only when i lie down flat on bed. when i lie down flat, the headache goes away within minutes. presently i am visiting a urologist and neurologist. i asked them a few times for acyclovir course. but they seem reluctant to prescribe acyclovir.. urologist prescribes ceftum instead of acyclovir.
which doctor ahould i be consulting for this problem?
urologist, neurologist or a skin specialist? or can just start taking acyclovir myself?
