Posted on Mon, 1 Aug 2016
Question: I had a painful bit of heartburn, with a lot of burping that then moved to my abdomen that lasted the entire day. The following day, my mid to lower abdomen is very tender to the touch and it hurts to move around. Now at the start of the 3rd day, just my lowest most part of my abdomen hurts.

Brief Answer:
Can be an attack of acute gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely an attack of acute gastritis.

Have you taken any unusual foods or drinks before getting this?

Zantac and pepto bismol won't be much helpful. You can take Esomeprazole (Nexium) which will be more helpful. This you can take for 1 to 2 weeks. This is available as over the counter. Applying hot water bags on abdomen will be helpful to get relief also. You can take antacids containing anaesthetic also.
Avoid spicy foods , coffee , alcohol , carbonated drinks and smoking.
If there is no improvement then ultrasound examination of abdomen should be done to rule out acute abdominal conditions like cholecystitis.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
