What Causes Severe Itchiness And Swelling In The Right Calf Muscle?
Question: I AM 54 MALE; I WAS OVERSEAS , AND HAD ALOT OF SCRATCHING AND RIGHT CLAF SWELLED WHEN I GOT HOME AND WORKING OUT (ELLIPTICAL) ; I DID THE DR'S ON DEMAND AND HE GAVE ME A ANTIBOTIC FOR A WEEK AND CREME TO TAKE; I WAS ON MY FEET AND WORING FOR FIRST 3- DAYS AND SWELLING WENT DOWN SOME; ON THE 4TH DAY FLEW HOME AND SWELLED MORE; ON DAY 5 RESTED AND ELEVATED AND SWELLING WENT DOWN, DAY 6 AND 7 SWELLING WHEN DOWN TOTALY AND MUSCLE HURT SOME; WAITED ABOUT 3 MORE DAYS STARTED WORKING OUT AGAIN AND SWELLING CAME BACK.......I FELT THAT I DIDN'T REST IT EARLY WHEN TAKING ANTIBOTICS BUT WHEN DID CAME BACK BUT MUSLES TINGLED SOME AND SORE WEHN SWELLING CAME DOWN.....

Do you have any other illness like blood pressure diabetes or heart problem? Are you any medicines prior to this event. Please let me know. Looking at the way you describe the symptoms it looks like you should be having some muscle injury or sore. But in view of temporal relation to travel and prolonged standing we need to rule out deep vein thrombosis as cause for your problem. Please have doppler and ultrasound of your legs and get back to me with reports.

yes, i am working on trying to get a Doppler ultrasound of the calf; My leg was swelled prior to the work assignment; I just felt i didn't properly rest it till the 4 day and finally swelled came down.....but i get a DVT test and hope it rule that issue out......do you have any referrals in the manassas va area for a cardiologist who takes united health care....insurance
