What Causes Severe Leg Pain During Menstruation In An Elderly Woman?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: Hi,

My mother is 46 yrs old nearing menopause stage. Her periods is normal from days 3-5 & in days 1 and 2 blood lost is very minimum in past 4-5 months - This was not happening all these years.
And she gets extreme pain in legs during this time. Is this normal or she needs some vitamin supplement? Her BP/sugar is normal.
Also she gets tired so soon even with her regular routine.

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Supplements suggested.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
It is normal to have pain in legs during periods.
Plus she is nearing menopause.
She should definitely be taking some vitamin supplements.
Please ask her to take Shelcal - HD 1 tablet daily with milk ( this is calcium plus vitamin D supplement ).
Also CRAMPS powder, 2 tablespoons in a glass of water twice a day when she has extreme pain.
She can also take a multivitamin like Cap A to Z 1 tablet daily.
She can soak the feet and legs in hot water with salt in it, or use a hot water bag and rest to alleviate the pain.
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further.
