What Causes Severe Pain In Neck, Lower Back, Thighs, Nausea, Weakness And Dizziness?

Question: Hi, I have had neck pain which caused a severe headache that lasted two days. My neck pain is not as bad now. However, I keep getting very dizzy (like head-rush feeling) with just more of an achy neck. I woke up this morning and added to the neck discomfort and dizziness I now have sharp pains shooting through out center to lower back Sometime the pain is so intense it makes me feel nauseous. My thighs hurt and feel weak when standing or walking and a cramping kind of discomfort in left shoulder and upper arm. Once in a while a pain will shoot down arm to wrist. My so called restless legs, which used to only bother me at night, are now bothersome during day as well with leg jumping/ jerking. What is going on with me. CT scan w/out contrast was done two days ago at ER They said everything looked fine. What could be going on with me? Also, the 5 hours I was at ER they gave me two different muscle relaxers and pain medicine. It never helped my head and neck pressure, It finally eased off by end of next day. Concentration has also become a problem. I feel like my brain turns off.

Brief Answer:
Physical examination

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

As I read your clinical details,it is apparent that severe neck pain is the chief complaint.Neck pain can cause headache as well.Sharp pains shooting down the back and pain in shoulder and arm-all give an overall impression that this might be a cervical spine pathology. However, CT of cervical spine is normal(although MRI cervical spine would have been an ideal investigation) and that way, diagnosis depends on the neurological examination.

So, I suggest you to visit a neurologist in person for a physical examination.

Besides, Does she have Diabetes, thyroid or any other disease?

I shall be glad to have you in follow-up with further queries.

No diabetes or thyroid problems. My neck pain was main complaint 2 days ago. It has eased off mostly. Just frequent spells of lightheadedness, pain and cramping going down left arm and leg and hand and foot are very tingly/prickly. Pain in thigh when walking. My neurology appt is next Mon. What can I or should I do until then ? I am taking pain and muscle meds Dr prescribed at ER two days ago. No relief from either.

Brief Answer:
Clonazepam/Observation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
I have gone through your clinical details and its hard to arrive at a diagnosis without neurological examination.

However,I suggest you to be on clonazepam therapy for now as anxiety can often cause such symptoms.PLEASE TAKE MEDICINES UNDER A PHYSICIAN'S GUIDANCE ONLY.

In fact, anxiety is observed to commonly causes such symptoms in clinical practice.

Hope that helps.
If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.
