What Causes Severe Pain In The Groin Area?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: I have severe left groin pain that gets worse during menses, which is between 15-21 day cycle. Pain has progressively gotten worse each month and now is constant pulling/throbbing on left side near ovary and back/tailbone. GYN was sure I had endometriosis and wanted to put me on Lupron injections. I wanted to know what pain was before I decided to do this. Had Ultrasound, Pelvic MRI w/ XXXXXXX and Laparoscopy done and all came back normal and only showed cyst on Right Ovary. Background includes hip dysplasia when infant, "fixed" by double-diapering only. Menses started at age 12 and have been horrible and irregular since. Painful intercourse (deep penetration). 3 natural childbirths. Last child was born 8 years ago. I am frustrated! Pain is interfering with quality of life. Any suggestions on where to go next?

Brief Answer:
Need more details..

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for your query.

I'm sorry that you are facing a health issue like this but I will need more details to help you.
How many times have you been on pain?
Is the pain relived by the use of birth control pills?
Have you contact with an orthopedist?
Is the pain relived by using pain -killers?
Did you have bilateral(both hips)dysplasia or unilateral?
How is your weight?
Are you active like exercising ?

In my opinion you should contact with an orthopedist because pain may be due to bone issue and not due to gynecologic issue .

I will be here waiting for your answers and I will try to help you .

All the best

How many times have you been on pain? - Pain started about a year ago and is progressively getting worse.

Is the pain relived by the use of birth control pills? Not at all. Progestin only pills had me bleeding for 21 days, so GYN took me off and now I don't use anything (husband had vasectomy). I do not tolerate BC well. Using Natural Progesterone Cream daily.

Have you contact with an orthopedist? No, but GYN thinks that is our next step.

Is the pain relived by using pain -killers? Hydrocodone helps briefly...it "dulls" the sharpness of pain and I think helps relax me, but I still feel the left side twinges of pain.

Did you have bilateral(both hips)dysplasia or unilateral? I have no idea. I was just told that I had it when I was a baby and seemed to "grow out of it." I was also a softball pitcher in high school and had problems with my hip then, felt like it kept popping out of socket. Went to chiropractor for several months and problem seemed to go away.

How is your weight? I am 5'7 (have always been 5'8 in the past) but recently was told that I am 5'7 and 140 lbs., 10 lbs. of which I have gained in the past year. Lower stomach looks distended and really bloated all the time.

Are you active like exercising ? Not anymore. Too much pain...

Brief Answer:
Contact prior with an orthopedist.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again and I'm sorry that you have so much pain.

As per your history in my opinion hip pain have no relation with endometriosis.

And for more that you have done all these examinations as;MRI and laparoscopy.
Laparascopy is the best examination to determine endometriosis.

Pain can aggravated while you menstruate because except of hip pain you may have and lower abdominal pain ,and in this way pain doubles .

Hence in my opinion you should contact as soon as possible with an orthopedist and do not start Lupron therapy because it can cause much pain.

Bloating you feel may be due to stress you have while you are in pain all the time.

For any further question please do not hesitate because I will be here to help you.
