What Causes Severe Pain In The Shoulder Radiating To The Ankles?
Question: Long description. Started as pain in my shoulder, like a cold in the muscle. Moved to my neck, down my back (both sides of my spine), to my rump, thighs, both sides, my calves and settled in my ankles. This took several weeks. Always in my ankles now. When I get up in the AM it can be just bad in my ankles, or up my calves, up my thighs or the whole way to my lower back. Severe pain with each step. It has hurt so bad I couldn't hold myself up in a standing position. Has hit me suddenly during the day and knocked my legs out from under me. For several months, started last year. In the winter it put me down on my back in very deep snow. Took me about 20 minutes to get up out of the snow. Extreme cold. I was by myself. HELP!

Dear Sir,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that please ask your exact query , going through your details I was not able to figure out what you want to ask .Also please tell if the pain is associated with any swelling of joints or weakness of muscles . Any other illness or relevant history you want to tell . At first it seems like Polymyalgia rheumatica but we need to know entire details tp reach a diagnosis . Also attach your blood reports if any .

I want to get a diagnosis so we can work on it. Blood work at home, I work in a nursing home as a Respiratory Therapist. if OK I'll send it in later. No swelling and weak only during severe pain. No history related to these areas or the brain. I'll be home in about 3 hours. Thank you for the attention and reply.

what do I do if they all haven't been done. I don't know how my physician would feel about me being on here. should I show him your recommendations?
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
Yes you can talk to him and show our recommendations . These are some basic tests that we would need . If they are not done , then you will need to get that done to reach to a diagnosis . First you see which tests have been done , after that I will make a list of required tests for you which you can discuss with your treating doctor .

I read up on this and you are 100% right, to the extent that it may sound strange but my GP told my parents that I had temporal arteritis when I was 12, 55 years ago. I've had hammers hitting me in the temple and many different meds. One worked very well sublingual in the early 70s but was an orphan drug and they guit making it before my first refill. I've been living with the prognosis ever since. knocked out twice. I know it is way too long but that's how it is. never biopsied to confirm. to afraid. no one even Drs would believe me. maybe now I can be relieved of it. I hope. it's hard to live with, at least weekly. on Gabapentin to try to help with migraines as a last resort. works a bit. but thanks so much.

Also get vitamin D ,calcium levels and Dexa scan to see the bone health and supplement accordingly . Anytime you can contact me for further guidance and assistance .
