Brief Answer:
Colonoscopic examination highly recommended

Detailed Answer:
hi.
thanks for posting your query.

sudden "heavy" rectal bleeding , particularly at your age group ( >55yr) - should be promptly and properly investigated. despite having normal colonoscopic examination results 17 months ago,as per current clinical scenario, colonoscopy is highly recommended asap.

further , i would like to know:
1. have you suffered from increased frequency of diarrhea lately?
2. have you suffered from constipation lately?
3. have you lost weight lately?
4. have you suffered from anemia ever ( low hemoglobin level )? any recent complete blood cell report ( not older than 6 months)....

wish you good and sound health

regards
DR Tayyab Malik
