What Causes Severe Tingling Sensation In The Nasal Cavity With Sneezing?

Question: hi, I have talked to a couple of physicians about this issue and was just hoping to gain some clarity. I have a strange issue where I feel a tickle or burning in my nose - a sensation that a sneeze is coming- and then it evaporates. I have not sneezed in at least a few months, though I have been able to induce sneezing occassionally by sticking up a pointy tissue or paper up my nose. My gp days it's likely psychological and did not examine me in any way. Should.i see a specialist? a Google search indicated that it could be neurological, is that a possibility?

Brief Answer:
Allergy/neurological issues to rule out first...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

The feeling of tickle or burning in your nose, associated with sensation that a sneeze is coming are all indicating 2 major issues:
- allergy
- neurological issues

If you do have such feelings occasionally/seasonally, then, it might be related to allergy.

If you have it all the time, then, could be a neurological issue. A further consultation with neurologist is then recommended to rule out olfactory nerve problems.

If nothing organic is present, then, we can say that it is a psychological issue.

In either cases, I do not see anything worrisome. These are only recommendations to put your mind at peace.

Hope this answers your query.
