What Causes Severe Vomiting, Headache, Extreme Sensitivity To Light And Dark Urine?
Question: my niece age 22 yrs started vomiting 12 hrs ago, complaint headache, photophobia, dark urine, no diarrhea, unable to keep fluids, even water down, no fever, last bowel movement, yesterday, nothing left to vomit, pain 6/10 scale, ate in chinatown w friends about 40 days ago

Hi, Since there is pain and severe vomiting, it indicates there is probably an infection or indigestion, due to something she ate a day back not 40 days back. You have tried Gatorade. Please give her an over the counter preparation of mouth dissolving Ondanestron 4 mgs and repeat half hourly till vomiting stops. Then give her any preparation of Omeprazole 20 mgs. Repeat both twice a day and keep her on liquid bland diet. If there is relief, continue for three days. It means it was an attack of non-infective gastritis. If there is no relief, after two three doses and she continues to vomit, please see your doctor for a course of antibiotic.
Vomiting can also be due to jaundice but it is unlikely in her case since there is pain. Regards
