What Causes Sharp Chest Pain And Anxiety?

I get intermittent sharp chest pain, which is sharp, causes me to stop what I am doing but only lasts for seconds, less that a minute. The pain is in the center of the chest, substernal. It does not last long but scares me and then I can't catch my breath. No other symptoms but anxiety when this happens. I think it's cardiac, like my heart. I was told I have severe osteoporosis in the spine and both hips. Could this pain stem from osteoporosis or could it be cardiac? I did have an echocardiogram about 4-5 months ago which was normal; also a normal ekg around that time. I am small framed and do lift heavy objects on my job with a lot of bending.
its probably the heart
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in HCM
I can understand your concern
According to the history you explain its not osteoporosis causing this pain.
There are three organs that you have to control .
First the heart with the following tests:
Repeat ECG, and the ULTRASOUND
Cardiac enzymes Troponin,CK-MB
Lipidogram
If they come normal than you should continue with the lungs with:
D dimer
Chest x Ray
If they are normal too than it might be the stomach and a gastroscopy need to be done
After having the results the relevant specialists will advise you further for the treatment.
In my opinion with the most probability is the heart the cause
Please discuss with your doctor for the above
Take care and feel free to ask me again
