What Causes Sharp Shooting Pains Radiating From Ankle To Shin Area?
Question: Hi I am having terrible sharp shooting pains radiating from ankle up my shin. Lasts for a minute at most then subsides to no pain at all. I stand on concrete at work for long periods and am active snowmobiling. Started last week and I rested a couple days without any severe episodes. This morning. I went to work in tennis shoes, felt a pinch if you will under my shoelace. Tried to adjust it but after a couple hours was hit with another excruciating attack. Have had a couple more since. Taking naproxen which I had left from a similar episode couple years back. Seems to help some. Any ideas?
Brief Answer:
It can be a stress fracture
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. I think that you are having stress fracture of the tibia. I would recommend you to get a digital x ray of the leg or preferably MRI of the leg. If there is stress fracture than you will need splinting of the leg.
Also you should take regular Calcium and vitamin D 3 so that fracture will heal with faster speed.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks

Thank you for taking an interest in my problem Dr XXXXXXX I was suspecting that as well as possibly tendonitis since the pain is pretty much localized to my front lower shin. Should I go to the emergency room or wait until Monday? I don't want to complicate it anymore.
Brief Answer:
You can wait for one day
Detailed Answer:
