What Causes Shivering And Heart Palpitations After Having Levothyroxine?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I am taking levothyroxine 125 MCG every day and began to feel jittery and shaky about two weeks ago. I had a bad case of the flu four weeks ago and used a nebulizer and prednisone (10 mg) for eight days. Could this have anything to do with my symptoms? I was tested in December.
Brief Answer:
Higher than required dose of Levothyroxine causes
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
Jitters, shaking and palpitations can be due to a higher than required dose of Levothyroxine or by nebulisation with a sympathomimetic.
I presume you are not taking nebulisation now. Please reduce the Levothyroxine dose to 100 micro gram per day and see if it improves the symptoms.
Take care,
Dr Noble Zachariah
